10 Minute Parkour is a new version of the old sport of parkour. It has been developed by a London based company called Just Leads. The idea behind it is simple enough. If you have ever seen the old versions of parkour where the people would try to jump between buildings and roofs then you will understand what I am talking about. This is called free-running and was first seen in France in the early 1980’s.
What happens in the video is that you are given a set amount of time to try and do a jump. If you make it you move on but if you miss it, you are penalized by falling to the ground and get a time penalty for not being able to finish your run. The developers of 10 Minute Parkour have added new features to it since then to try to keep the exciting nature of it while still making it fair. You still get the stunning view you get from doing it however it is a little bit fairer than before.
One of the best features that they have added to it is the fact that you can now slow down when you need to. This makes it more exciting because you know that you will be getting a penalty if you fall. It may take a lot longer to fall if you slow down though so you will want to decide if you want to do this feature or not. Once you decide to go ahead go for it! This is done by moving a bit slower than you normally would and as soon as you land you are given another amount of time to try and do a jump (since you are slowed down) and if you fail you are penalized again.
This time is usually just enough for you to be able to land back on the ground without hurting yourself. You must learn to manage your time wisely otherwise you will find that it is just too easy to slack off and do nothing. This will decrease your skill in parkour a lot and it is something that should be worked on quite a bit. There are many ways to improve parkour though such as getting a video guide or enrolling in a course.
Another feature is that if you fall while doing your jumps you will get an extra bonus. This means that you will jump even harder and land much better than usual! It will almost feel like a workout. I cannot stress enough how important this feature is. If you are doing it right then you should not feel sore for days after you perform the jumps. You should get bruises on your body instead!
Last but not least, the new map feature puts you into a new place every time you perform a jump. As soon as you land on the ground you will be placed in the new location. Try it out today! You will not believe how much it improves your skills. I have been using it exclusively for a few weeks now and I find myself progressing so quickly in all areas of parkour. It is great fun!
