Minecraft Mod creator Steve maybe is getting a little tired of people asking if the mod is going to feature Ceramics 1.16.5, so he has released a video showing off what modding capabilities the mod has. Now I’m not one hundred percent sure if the mod is going to include all of the crafting items that the vanilla game has, or if it’s just going to be a texture change based on what Ceramics are currently in game. But I thought I would take a sneak peek and see if I can find any crafting table models that are similar to those found in the vanilla game.
If you do find any models similar to the ones you see in the images in the mod download page, then that’s great! I think it’s great that the modding community exists because it allows me to customise my games according to my own likes and dislikes. The crafting table I found is called the ‘Ceramic Table’ and it comes with a number of crafting benches of different types. There are also a couple of wall mounted models, one of which has a cracked texture. Just for fun I’ve also added a model that looks like an old-fashioned chalkboard, which you can place anywhere in your home for use as a wall writing surface.
You can find many other crafting tables and lanterns in the mod. They’re mostly spread all across the map, but there’s one in ‘the Highlands’. It has a unique model and can be purchased from any Tinker’s Shop once you have reached level 11. There are also several unique lanterns you can buy, which only appear in certain places on the map. If you know where I’ve found them, or places where they are less likely to be found, you can make good money by selling them on the auction house.
One thing that really bugs me about this game is that they replace textures at a certain distance. I’m told that they’re using higher quality versions to reduce the ‘clipping’ that occurs when moving. However, moving the camera around tends to make things look worse, as some parts of the model become cut off. I’ve been playing for a while now and I’ve yet to come across a part of the terrain in the vanilla game that doesn’t seem to be clipping. I’m not certain why this is, but it does happen. To remedy this I simply move the camera a little and the clipping seems to cease.
The ceramics Minecraft mod is not without its flaws. For one, crafting tables don’t seem to stack correctly. Minecarts sometimes fall back onto the tracks as they aren’t quite strong enough to stand on their own. Other things such as the light level not being sufficient on some surfaces can cause some problems, particularly when you’re in the dark. That said, it is still a very impressive mod and many players will find these flaws irrelevant.
It also adds a new type of block, the ‘verdigris’. These can be broken into two more categories, the ‘cobblestone’ and the ‘quarry’. They are made out of a new material, netherrack. The cobblestone is basically just a regular cobblestone with a stained texture, while the quarry is made out of the same material but with veins. The quarry has no glow or other visual indicator as it’s just red on the outside, but the cobblestone has a texture you can pick out from.
