Configurable Extra Mob Drops is a server side mod that adds many new drop lists to the game. Mob drops are items dropped by mobs on death and these can be crafted, sold or traded. However, because there are so many to collect, it’s usually pretty boring collecting them. So I’ve made a mod that configures a loot table for all these mob drops. Here’s what you can expect:
Mob Drops are now split into different types and it’s entirely possible to craft all kinds. And the kind you get will have a high drop rate. For example, there’s now a ‘chest item drops Leatherworking Block’ and ‘enchanted weapon drops leatherworking block’. These separate types make it easy to make sure that there’s a lucrative route to grinding for specific types of mobs at high speeds. Because these drops are now split up, you can also expect a much larger variety in which you can farm.
I’m not going to lie to you and say this is going to be the easiest mod to play. But it’s also not going to be the hardest. There are plenty of people who find themselves having issues with this mod. One of the biggest problems is that it’s not compatible with the updated minecraft 1.5 version. This can cause some serious problems, because if you’re not able to use the mod then you’re basically just wasting your time. I’ve heard reports of people trying to get it to work but getting frustrated because it’s impossible.
I’ve also added many new recipes. For example, there’s now an ore that produces a Glowstone. That’s great if you like to play with glowstones. This mod also adds an ore that produces sand, which is great for using in a texture for building blocks. Finally, there’s now a new mushroom that can be cooked, which will produce smoke.
It’s possible to disable some of the new mob drops so you’ll have a little more of the “normal” mobs to kill. This will probably be more effective on monsters that are on fire. However, disabling it will really just result in a lot of low level mobs around which aren’t very useful.
This is my first mod, so I’d advise any new players to start off with the safest one first. Try doing what I’ve done and then tweak it until you find what works best for you. Mine has helped me a ton since I started using it. It’s one of the best Minecraft mods out there.
