As with any other mod, the Enigmatica series, this one too, has its own pros and cons. Let’s start off with the pros. This is by far, the best mod that I have tried so far. There is a world of difference between the vanilla version and this version. For example, there are over forty maps spread across two parts, and some are even completely new.
When you get to them, you will be greeted with a very large number of trees. They are placed all over the world and are quite beautiful, too. The grass is much more lush and there are over four hundred animal life forms to interact with. If you were afraid of animals, then this is the mod for you.
In addition to this, you also get a flying ship. It has the ability to jump from one island to another, and there are several islands in total. If you were afraid of water, then you probably won’t mind playing on land as well. The terrain is varied, but is beautiful all the same.
If you are a player who enjoys playing something a little bit challenging, then this is definitely for you. While it’s true that you will be up against more technologically advanced opponents, you will still have to manage your resources wisely. As I mentioned, there are over four hundred objects to collect, and they all give help and rewards when collected. The challenges are varied, but all of them are fun to try and defeat.
Now, let’s talk about the cons. Well, there’s one big one. The world is huge, and since you’re up against much larger opponents, it’s easy to get overwhelmed if you’re not careful.
That’s why I suggest staying geared to just one island at a time. If you get bogged down, or feel like you’ve already done everything there is to do, take a few detours. That way, you can explore the surrounding islands and have a nice rest before facing your next challenge. It really helps me to remember that there is always another island to explore, and more to come. You will never run out of things to do in Enigmatica!
Now I want to talk about the game play. For the most part, this game is very challenging. Especially if you get stuck on a puzzle or get trapped and can’t go back to the entrance where you started. You can almost always return to the entrance where you started, but that might require some searching. The puzzles themselves can be quite varied. Some are fast moving, others are slow, but all of them are entertaining.
I give Enigmatica a score of M.A.S.H. because it is a game that is fun, challenging, and entertaining. If you enjoy puzzles and have never played this one, then I highly recommend it.
