As the popularity of MineCraft continues to grow, so does its competitor, Minecraft, but which one is better? For me, I tend to lean toward MineCraft simply because it is free and movable, while Minecraft is more “full-featured”. But there are advantages for both that we’ll discuss today.
It should be noted that MineCraft have very different goals and concepts in general, but one of them is common among both games; that being to produce an intricate world with hundreds of unique items, structures, and features. Minecraft uses a “mod” format, where items are added by players and can be removed or altered by others as well. The goal of each player is to do this in as little time possible, with any leftover items being sent back to the spawn point. MineCraft, on the other hand, uses a resource system where resources are collected from throughout the world, then are dropped down into an ore vein.
As far as the mechanics of the games are concerned, MineCraft has a very simple game play compared to Minecraft. While MineCraft is a single player game, many versions allow two or more players to play at a time, where each one takes a turn creating resources and removing dirt and debris from their maps. It’s simple, but it is addictive. The competitive aspect of this is that players will be challenged more frequently by the time they reach level 20 because there are more things which will need to be done.
Another big difference between MineCraft and the popular and successful Mod Jam title, Modular, is that with minecraft, players are not restricted to a single style or difficulty level. For example, while the game is primarily an “adventure” type with a story, there are several levels with varying degrees of difficulty. Players can opt to play on easy, medium, or hard, making the game quite replayable. There is also a large map unlike most other MineCraft games where each map is created in one block, providing players with an unchanging landscape to explore.
However, despite its unique characteristics, MineCraft is still very much a mod. This means that the more that players use the mod, the more unique items and structures that can be added into the game. The more user-made content that is added, the more that the world looks like a real part of a game, rather than just something created with the use of a computer program. This is what makes MineCraft so fun and interesting to play; allowing players to create 1.16.5 anything they want.
The MineCraft community welcomes modders with open arms. If you’re interested in creating a new mod for MineCraft, you can find information on the forums or in the dedicated section of the mod website. There are a lot of other individuals who are willing to help or mentor you in your MineCraftmodding journey. So, whether you’re a beginner or an expert, there’s certainly something to learn from the MineCraft community.
