One of the most requested mods for the vanilla edition of Minecraft is No Mob Spawning on Trees. I know I have been very tickled pink when I found out that it’s possible to remove moss from my world. I love the idea, and I am sure you do too. But what kind of impact will it have on the game?
This is a fairly new feature for Minecraft. It allows players to get rid of mobs by themselves without having to invite them. That’s a pretty big deal because it means you don’t have to go and get all the mobs that are spawning around your farm or in the forest. You can just get rid of the ones that are dying and you’re free to move onto the new ones.
Of course, this doesn’t have any affect on mobs that are not flying, but that’s a whole different topic. No Mob Spawning on Trees has some downsides, however. For one, it does mean that your world won’t be as big as it could be. Trees take up a lot of space, and that can make things look less dense. Trees also block the view of the other players.
If you’re playing on a server that allows mob spawning on trees, don’t expect to get much in the way of a player-creating world. Most servers have limitations on how many mobs can be spawned at once, and these can range from “one” to “a handful”. Since flying mobs are virtually impossible to kill, you’ll be stuck with flying mobs and a small handful of ground mobs. It won’t take long until you run out of playing time.
However, mob spawning on trees is still worth the feature for those who can’t wait for their turn to fly. It can be frustrating waiting for an enemy to show up, especially if you’ve already killed all of them. But when you see a tree that’s ready to attack, you can swoop in without delay. Plus, mob flying skills are incredibly useful for those who like to ambush their enemies. You can easily fly right by an enemy, then quickly attack them while they’re busy focusing on the trees you’ve left floating around.
For those who are interested in utilizing mob spawning on trees, I recommend that you make sure that they are in a place that’s high up in the trees. The closer it is to the middle of the tree, the better. It can be helpful to use some terrain features, such as water, to help hide your enemy. It can also be helpful to plant some trees around the mob spawn locations to make it harder for them to get to you. If you keep at it, you should be able to overcome mob level groups with little to no hassle.
