Mob Suffocation is a Minecraft Mod that makes the player not die when they are being mobbed. The death message now includes an option to disable that part of death. This will prevent the mob from instantly respawning once they are killed.
There are two primary ways this can be implemented in the game. The first way is where a player hides until they get close to a mob and then attacks it. The problem with this is that the player will sometimes be too far away to actually target the mob properly. They might still be attacked by several mobs and still not be able to cause any damage.
The second way to implement this in the game is for players to designate certain areas as “mob-free zones”. When inside of these zones, the player is safe from all mobs. However, this does not help if a player has been targeted by a mob, they will still experience the mob’s death message, but will not receive mob experience points or loot.
I decided to make my own version of this mod so I could get rid of the need to hide. I also wanted to make it so the player could still defend themselves if they were being mobbed. I have used the Death Knight faction for this purpose. With this mode enabled, the player will still die when being mobbed, but they will not receive the death message until they have unloaded the game.
To use this mode, you simply need to download it and enable it in your Minecraft configuration file. It is recommended that you use the WorldGuard 1.16.5 mod as well to make sure your game is protected from mobs while you are away. The Death Knight is required for this setup. It will make the game play much more intense because the player will be actively engaging in combat without any warning.
This was all I needed to get started with my death knight character. I started with just the Death Knight, but later added the Paladin as well. Having both of them enabled in the MCM menu made leveling faster than ever. I did not, however, find time to level other characters, because I was too busy focusing on my new death knights. Once the server reset, I loaded up vanilla Minecraft and got right into it again.
