If you are familiar with mods, you will have to give the Skyblock: Advanced 1.16.5 Minecraft Mod a look. It is a complete overhaul of the vanilla game and promises many hours of entertainment for the dedicated modders. It has a few drawbacks however, such as only being available for the PC, as well as some performance issues with the game. But then again, it is a very impressive mod, and you would not want to miss out on it.
Skyblock is a brand new version of the popular mod, Advanced Minecraft. It brings a lot of changes and offers a lot more opportunities to be experienced and played. The main features include: improved terrain and world graphics, new structures, animals and other characters to enhance your experience, new blocks, realistic clouds and sounds, improved overall performance, optimized inventory systems and many more. In short, this mod has everything that any serious player would want in his or her favorite game.
You might ask why I am basing my review on the things that aren’t in the vanilla game. Well, the truth is that while the vanilla version is still a good game, there are certain features that the team behind the Skyblock Mod missed in their attempt to make the mod as realistic as possible. For instance, they wanted to include caves and other passages that players may use to get through the underground and start up with their mining tasks from the surface, but they were not able to implement them. However, they did manage to add some pretty impressive blocks, most notably the flying insect, which can fly through the air and destroy most anything in its path.
Another major feature is the block physics. Because of the huge overhaul in the block physics, almost every block in Skyblock has a different behavior when broken. Some still fall down and break into pieces, but some will simply stay intact and do nothing when attacked. There are also several new flying blocks that will fly through the air and will behave more realistically.
But perhaps the biggest feature in Skyblock: Advanced Minefield Mod is the sky! Not only does it provide an entirely new playing experience, but the mod gives you the ability to customize the clouds and even create some specific cloud types. When designing your own sky, you have a lot of flexibility in terms of sky colors, but there are currently only four colors available. Orange, red, blue and green are currently the most commonly used sky colors and the rest can be changed by visiting the MC Forums. There is also a sky outline, although this is only available for block types that already have an outline.
This mod has received mostly positive reviews so far, although there are a few people who claim that the sky is too bright and that there are too many block types. However, most fans of the mod state that the only thing that could improve the game would be a better sky. If that ever comes out, then they are planning on creating their own. At the moment, there is also another feature being worked on, which is a multiplayer mode. For now though, the game remains as is.
