The Swamp expansion for MineCraft is a new version of the popular game that emphasizes the strategic element of the game. The game takes place in a large open world called the Swamp, and players can explore the undersea as well as the lands on the land. This gives the player the opportunity to establish a home for themselves and their character, as well as establish a territory and begin to fight for it. This makes the game a little bit different than the older versions of MineCraft that tended to be more action-oriented – at least when it came to providing you with the enjoyment of building something rather than just playing with some kind of mindless action.
The Swamp expansion focuses more on the narrative aspect of the game. The story behind the expansion is that a deadly virus has killed all of the villagers and left their bodies in a wreck. The disease has also reached the surface of the ocean, and all of the fish that live in the ocean have gone into a panic and are fighting back against their would-be attackers. The player must help the villagers fight their disease and restore sanity to the Swamp before the final battle occurs.
The zombies in the game are also a lot more realistic, although there are still plenty of other types of creepy crawlers. The most notable creatures in the expansion are the mermaids that you can meet. These beautiful sea creatures will help you along your journey as they lead you to the parts of the Swamp that the zombies have invaded. While the mermaids might not exactly scare anyone, they do add an air of romance as you meet these lovely sea creatures who will give you helpful information about where you should go and what you should do to help in your quest.
As the game progresses, you’ll find yourself becoming more skilled and experienced. You’ll eventually learn how to build the different structures and items, including the mine, that you need to stay ahead of the competition. It’s interesting to see the evolution of the game, as it moves from more survival oriented tasks, to building for war. The addition of new weapons, as well as, monsters adds a whole new dimension to the game.
The graphics, overall, are quite well done. There is no doubt that the new features are well suited to the style of play that the mod has to offer. And you can see just how much effort went into the actual design as well. It’s very clean and simplistic, yet the details are clearly defined and the entire thing runs smoothly. It’s a welcome change from the zombie-filled landscapes that are usually seen in the older versions of the game.
It’s a nice idea, to be able to play the mod alongside the original version of the game. However, it does present some difficulties that might be a problem for some players. Although there are some rough spots in the beginning, like when your character doesn’t start moving along well, it’s pretty easy to overcome these little hurdles and start having fun.
