This new and improved Yungg’s API Fabric Mod is sure to take mining back to the levels it used to be. In fact, the mod will add many more things than just ore and ores to the game. I have seen some amazing pictures of the different aspects of this new feature, but I won’t be able to tell you everything here.
Here’s a little bit about API Fabric and why it might be a great addition to vanilla MineCraft. If you’re familiar with old versions of the game, you’ll be glad to know that crafting was pretty boring. There are only two different blocks, coal and iron ore, and they generate just enough items for your whole adventure in the first couple of minutes. But with the addition of the new material, all of those things will change.
Crafting has been simplified with the use of the new block type, which also has its own loot table. If you go deeper into any of the ores or other blocks in the game, you will also find items. For example, if you mine the gravel in the lower levels, you can find an ores plus pillows and such. At higher levels, you can find glass and vanity sets, which can greatly speed up your character’s creation.
As of this writing, the mod has not yet reached the level of “good” that many people expect it to at this point. There is only a single biome, and only around five different blocks. You also have the ability to customize your items with the fabric pieces, but only in the apparel block type. That’s about all the customization there is to the mod.
The one big feature of the API Mod is the block data. That’s the information that tells you how many different types of fabric pieces are in a block. For example, a blue furnace should give out one blue textile per tick. That data is only available in the vanilla minecraft client, so this mod does require the use of a downloaded client copy.
I don’t know whether the idea of using a client version of the Minecraft Modpack is a good one, because it would make crafting more complicated than it needs to be. Right now, it’s a simple vanilla clientmod that lets you craft the basic furnishing items. It’s certainly better than having to download and install a number of separate mods on your computer! That can get quite tedious.
